Upcycled Waste – Executive Summary
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
The Opportunity: Upcycled offers a proprietary waste-to-value solution that fundamentally changes how municipalities manage solid waste. Unlike traditional systems that bury trash, Upcycled accepts 100% of municipal and demolition waste, processes it without incineration, and converts it into renewable energy and commodities.
Furthermore, we possess the unique capability to excavate existing landfills and restore that land for community development.
This technology addresses critical needs in international markets struggling with land constraints, energy insecurity, and escalating waste management issues.
OUR UNIQUE VALUE PROPOSITION
- We Do Not Bury Waste (100% Diversion) Current “waste-to-energy” competitors often require pre-sorting and still send significant residue to landfills.
Upcycled is different:
- We accept 100% of the waste stream, including tires, plastics, and construction debris.
- We recycle the metals and non-gasifiable materials (approx. 20–25%).
- We gasify the remaining organic and plastic waste (75–80%) to generate energy.
- The only byproduct is a safe, glass-like solid used for road construction and concrete density filler. Meaning, zero material is buried.
2. We Repurpose Old Landfills (Land Repurposing) Landfills are the third-largest generator of Greenhouse Gases (GHGs) globally. Most communities simply cap them and monitor the pollution for 30 years. Upcycled offers a Land Repurposing model:
- We dig up the old landfill.
- We separate and process the old waste, converting some to energy and other recyclables.
- We remediate the used soil & ash, compacting soil & ash in the bottom of the Repurposed site, returning valuable real estate to the community for new development.
3. Flexible, High-Value “Offtakes” Our system is modular and adapts to the energy needs of the host country. We convert waste into:
- Fuels: Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), Gasoline, and Diesel.
- Clean Energy: Hydrogen (H2), Renewable Natural Gas (RNG), and Electricity.
- Chemicals: Methanol and BTX-chain chemicals (industrial staples).
4. Commercial Readiness This solution is proven and ready for export:
- Intellectual Property: All patents for gasification and offtakes have been issued.
- Operational Footprint: Commercial operations are active in Oregon, Washington State, Japan & China.
- Flexible Financing: We offer a unique business model where Upcycled can assist with financing as well as operate the facility at cost, sharing profits via stock ownership to align incentives with other investors.
Conclusion Upcycled transforms a global liability (waste) into a strategic asset (energy and land). We look forward to working with the U.S. International Trade Administration to bring this American innovation to markets where it can have the greatest economic and environmental impact.
