Upcycled’s OneStep™ Converter

Our OneStep™ Converter technology is the culmination of years of dedicated research and development, setting a new standard in the synthesis of hydrocarbons from waste-derived synthesis gas. Distinct from the established Fischer-Tropsch (F/T) process, the OneStep™ Converter offers several cutting-edge advantages:

  • Lower Capital Costs

    Our technology necessitates significantly less investment in infrastructure compared to traditional F/T setups, such as alleviating the need for additional equipment to refine the lower molecular weight alkanes to make them sellable.

  •  Simplified Operations

    The OneStep™ Converter is designed for ease of use, reducing both the complexity and the cost of ongoing operations—removing the need for excess manpower, and streamlining the process by removing the potential pitfalls present in the thousands of moving parts present overly complex mechanical systems.

  • Enhanced Product Range

    We produce a higher proportion of high molecular weight alkanes, along with a flexible array of hydrocarbon products that can be tailored to meet the dynamic needs of the market.

  • Energy Efficient

    The process is engineered to avoid the excessive heat release common in F/T reactions, eliminating the need for costly ebullated bed reactor designs.

Understanding the Technology

Fischer-Tropsch Process vs. OneStep™ Converter

The Fischer-Tropsch process, while mature, exhibits several drawbacks when juxtaposed with our OneStep™ Converter technology:

  • Further Processing Required

    F/T often generates heavy waxes that necessitate additional processing, increasing time and cost.

  • Methane Production

    A significant by-product of F/T is methane, which has limited value beyond its heating properties.

  • Capital Intensity

    The complexity of F/T technology leads to greater capital expenditure, approximately 2.5 times higher than that required for our more streamlined OneStep™ Converter.
